Wes Welker is a beast. The man could not be stopped on Sunday, no matter what the Jets did. Double cover Randy Moss so he doesn’t beat you? Didn’t work out so well for the Jets, as Welker got about 134,023 yards on the day and oh yeah, Moss still scored a td. The Jets got smoked, and I know Lenny doesn’t want to hear this, but their season is over.
It was my first time in Boston this weekend and I do have to say it’s a pretty sweet city. Everything was clean, beautifully landscaped and it had interesting architecture throughout the city. I’m used to going to Manhattan so it didn’t surprise me how expensive everything was. 300 for the Hilton next to the Prudential Center in the Back Bay, 280 for 4 people to eat at the Top of the Hub, 60 dollar breakfasts and 30 dollar rounds of beer down by the market all sucked, but it was worth it to see the city for a day. Only about 20 homeless guys asking for change in the Boston Common and Public Gardens so that wasn’t too bad, but none of them were asking for money for hookers and drugs so they didn’t get a dime from me. I like honesty in my homeless guys.
Pretty easy to smoke weed in the city too, since I think I saw one cop the whole time. We just walked around and burned on the streets wherever we went and nobody even looked at us funny. I guess since it was decriminalized up there nobody gives a shit anymore.
So after our little touristy Boston walks on Saturday and Sunday we left for the game, about a half hour out of the city. We got the tickets from a family friend whose company has season tickets at the club level, with access to the sweet inside lounge area and parking about 50 feet from the stadium. First time I’ve ever gotten VIP seats like this and since I was with the woman, her sister and her sis’s boyfriend I was glad we were able to escape the cold for a little bit. The bar was about 100 feet long with about 20 flat screens, they had Grey Goose stands instead of beer and all the food was restaurant quality. It was carpeted and heated, with about 100 tables for people to hang out during halftime to warm up. Everything was super clean and brand new, definitely different than the Meadowlands.
You can see where we were sitting below, that section in the middle tier, right under the luxury boxes are the club seats.
The second we got out of the car in the parking lot I hear a Pats fan say “Look at this mothafucka with NY plates”. I knew it was gonna be a long day for us after that. I’m a Giants fan but the guy I was with is a huge Jets fan and we heard it from everyone in the parking lot. No violence ensued which was sweet but I think that’s because we were in the rich people section of the stadium and parking lot. They weren’t very receptive to Jets fans when we were walking around but it wasn’t even close to as bad as the Jets fans gave it to the Pats fans when I was at the Meadowlands for the game this year.
The game was not so good for us, as it was pretty much over after the first period. NY’s Dirty Sanchez was an int machine and the Jets never got anything going on offense. After the Pats got to 21 we all knew the game was over. As mentioned before, Wes Welker dominated the game completely. His routes were so crisp and he made every catch whether it was on the ground, behind him, or above his head. By far the most impressive player on the field for this game and I’m glad I didn’t face him in any of my fantasy leagues because he finished with just shy of 200 yards.
I do have to say that being in an opposing stadium is not even close to being as fun as being at a home game. When everyone else is cheering and having a good time you are trying to avoid standing up, and when you cheer for the visitors everyone just lays into you. There wasn’t much to cheer about if you were a Jets fan though, so I didn’t have to worry about it. This picture pretty much sums up the game for the Jets.
The Patriots were pissed they lost to the Jets earlier in the season and also didn’t like the shit talking the Jets and their coach were spewing out this week. It showed on the field as there were bone crunching hits every time the Jets came close to touching the ball.
Here are the highlights, notice the Pats never let up trying to score. They were throwing hail mary’s with 30 seconds left when they were up by 17 so I think this game was personal to them. Big props to the Pats cornerback Bodden, dude had 3 picks in the game, which was about how many Sanchez completed to his own guys.
One thing I don’t like about going to a game is that you miss the rest of the football games on tv. I barely won my survivor pool game with Jax over the Bills and now there are only ten guys left. Hopefully I can get a win with Cincy over Cleveland this week, as they should be pissed off they lost to Oakland.
