HMJ is paying attention to the major presidential candidates and their individual positions on the cannabis issue. But it will not be a President who re-legalizes cannabis. It will be a Congress. On the question of how long we have to wait for re-legalization, who we send to the House and Senate is more important than who is President.
It will be relatively easy during the campaign to get to meet your local Congressional candidate. Rallys get conducted everywhere. A bit of due dilligence on the net and you can find any and all of these gatherings near you. Go to them. Put every candidate on the spot with a friendly, “Where do you stand on re-legalization?” question. We have a right to know. They have a duty to tell the truth. Make them answer.
Having a President who favors re-legalization would be very helpful. But having enough votes in the House and Senate to override a veto of a cannabis re-legaligalization bill would be a lot better. The tide has turned, the change is coming, but we are not there yet and we must not lose focus.
It is time to re-legalize the cannabis plant.
