Anti-Marijuana Republican Steve Katz Charged With Possession Of Marijuana

10

Steve Katz voted against the legalization of medical marijuana in New York 2011. The Westchester County Republican was voting no on medical marijuana laws. This year he is getting possession of marijuana charges. He was pulled over going 80 in a 65mph zone. The officer smelt marijuana and found a small bag. Katz was ticketed with possession of marijuana and going 80 in 65.

This goes to show that a lot of government officials want marijuana to stay illegal regardless if they smoke it or not. They know they’re making so much money by it being illegal. What’s the point, in their mind, to legalize it? I’m sure we will here nothing new about this in the future. He will most likely get a slap on the wrist. Maybe a very small amount of community service.

It’s a lot different when I get caught with under a gram of marijuana. I received $1,700 in total legal fees, 18months probation, N.A for 3 months and 20 hours of community service. I ended up getting 90 days in jail because of failing one drug test for THC. If only I was part of the government and could only get a slap on the wrist as most do.
