In Arkansas it’s time to qualify petitions for the upcoming election. Two different petitions concern medical cannabis, but here’s a third — the one I like the best:
“We’re sure that we will be on the ballot this November,” said Don Lane, a canvasser and leader for Arkansas Free Grass. He and Longtime advocate Robert Reed are back again this year pushing the most controversial of the three marijuana proposals.
Their amendment would essentially make the plant itself legal, opening the door for farmers to grow it, retailers to sell it and anybody to use it. He and Don Lane say that would provide an economic boost, but it also includes retroactive decriminalization: freeing people they say have been jailed or arrested in what they call a failed war on weed.
“It’s going to cover any condition that a doctor might want to write this for,” Lane said. “And it’s going to free prisoners, saving the state many, many millions of dollars every year.”
Cracks in the wall of cannabis prohibition are appearing deep in the heartland of America. It’s good to see. There’s a lot more to this story at the complete, original post HERE.
