Cannabis-Infused Tampons About to Become a Thing

Foria, a company specializing in cannabis-infused suppositories is debuting a new product for female consumers — cannabis-infused tampons.

The products — available for purchase solely within California and Colorado — contain a combination of cocoa butter, and CBD and THC oil culled from organic hemp plants.

Foria, the company behind the products, claims that the cannabinoids contained within the tampons serve as a relaxant for nerves within the cervix, uterus, and ovaries.

“Cannabis has a long, cross-cultural history of use as a natural aide in easing symptoms associated with menstruation,” reads the product review on the company’s website. “Our intention is to share the powerful medicinal properties of this plant while utilizing modern extraction techniques to standardize purity and potency, thereby ensuring a safe and accessible experience for all women.”

The tampons — a pack of which will run $44 — have yet to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration and are not supported by any research.

Foria is not the first company to manufacture cannabis-infused products exclusively targeting women: American actress and comedienne Whoopi Goldberg announced earlier this year that she is also developing cannabis products for women looking to ease their menstrual pains, and has recently looked to Canada to expand her company’s reach.
