David vs. Goliath. The headline writes itself; although it would have been better if Duke didn’t share that first consonant with the David character from the bible (yes, he was a fictional character). Butler vs. Duke. Clash between the small (4200 undergraduate students at Butler) and the titans of ACC basketball, Duke, with their disturbing tyrant of a head coach Mike Kryzyzewski (betcha didn’t think I would take the time to spell it out for ‘ya). Read on to find out why this is going to make you nauseous before Monday night comes to a close.

No one except those crazy kids from Butler had them going this far. I’m not even sure there were many Butler students who had them in the final of their brackets. But, these kids, many of them pastier than my Irish brethren, are the only team to have beaten a #1 seed-Syracuse, and the #2 seed-Kansas St. to advance in their bracket. They’ve consistently out-played bigger, stronger and more veteran teams.

I hate Duke, and that bias should be noted, but to simply proclaim them the champs because they’re ranked higher and Coach K is more experienced, insults what Butler has done. Butler has the nations longest winning streak, currently at 25 games, and they’re David? Really?

There is a multitude of drivel to shovel in the face of the American public, so why stoop to the lowest common denominator for your stories (I understand the irony behind that since I’m writing about how the David vs. Goliath story is silly).

This past weekend, I sat with my family in Indiana and watched the final four. My family likes to drink, so we did that too. Maybe you haven’t heard, but Butler is from Indiana, so everyone was wearing Butler Blue. My family will do some more drinking after tonight’s supposed contest between David and Goliath. David had his sling-shot, and Butler has their 4 perimeter shooters, and a stifling defense that hasn’t allowed much over the last few weeks. But enough with the comparisons. Duke is favored, but Butler will prevail, and I’m looking forward to the drunken phone call from my cousins.

College football has ended and April is right around the corner. That means you better be getting your taxes done, and Mel Kiper Jr. (never forget the Jr.) must be flouncing his hair in anticipation of the biggest day of the year. That’s right, it’s NFL draft time, and teams are performing their due diligence before drafting for their future. After doing the team interviews, a disturbing trend has emerged. Read on to find out…

Everyone remembers Randy Moss’ stock falling after it was discovered he toked up while he was at Marshall, and we all know what a bust he turned into when he finally made it into the league. The same can be said for Warren Sapp. It’s with obvious trepidation that many NFL scouts look towards the draft to improve their team, but they’ve become leery of all the potheads out there running amok in NCAA Division I-A schools.

Sports Illustrated reports:

There’s a widespread belief within the NFL that the 2010 draft represents one of the deepest and most promising pools of collegiate talent in years. But in addition to the vast potential of this year’s draft class, numerous NFL personnel evaluators told SI.com they are concerned about the increased number of prospects who have a history of marijuana use in their background, with players often acknowledging a failed drug test for pot in college in interviews with team executives.

Marijuana use means that you will never be a first class athlete. There’s no way an athlete could even get high once and expect to become the top in his given profession. You blaze and you’re going down in flames (pun intended). Didn’t you know that marijuana is also a gateway drug?

Not only will marijuana lead to harder drugs, but getting high probably means you’re just not that serious about your sport. NFL executives are rightfully worried, since they are bastions of civil behavior and the best evaluators of talent and character. So when they say ‘”‘Marijuana use is almost epidemic, with more guys having tested positive for marijuana at some point in their college background than I can ever remember,’ said a longtime team personnel manager,” then you better listen.

Not counting the Sapp and Moss cases, the most recent example of how marijuana destroyed a players talent, is Percy Harvin. Harvin, was rightfully not drafted until the 22nd pick last year because he tested positive for marijuana. It was those crazy Vikings that drafted him too; they never learned after the Moss fiasco. We all know Moss went on to be a terrible disappointment, and Harvin was no different.

When are college football stars going to realize the damage they are doing to their long term NFL prospects every time they even think about marijuana. There’s just no way you’ll ever achieve anything if smoke pot. Athletes beware!

So I was watching the Kentucky vs. Georgia college basketball game Saturday with my dad as we baked and bonded. Kentucky won, which is great, but the purpose of this post is a Georgia dunk (over 6’11″ DeMarcus Cousins) very early in the game. I mean damn, this kid silenced 23,000 people in Rupp Arena, and for good reason. You may not see a better dunk this year.

We also watched the Bengals lose, but we have been watching that for over 20 years, so we’re used to it (although we don’t get the pleasure of watching them lose in the playoffs very often, so that was a bonus).

Bruce Pearl, the head coach of the Men Basketball Team at Tennessee, is probably one of the most colorful coaches in any sport. He is always very enthusiastic and emotional with everything related to his squad, he always has lots of team spirit and likes to grope random females.

Here he is making an attempt to rap, with a poka dot blazer, a tie, and no shirt on. SMH.

You also might want to cover your ears. The video gets cut out a little bit or else it would be even worse.

NJIT just broke a 51 game losing streak. I’m a little surprised it wasn’t any longer than that.

If you don’t know anything about NJIT, I’ll give you a little briefing. It’s a very nerdy school with a lot of geek kids in it. Kind of like a Yale or something only more geared towards technology.

None of those kids are athletic at all but they definitely didn’t let that stop them from celebrating the win. Congratulations, now lets see if we can make it a winning streak.

After Florida’s National Championship victory last week, I’m sure there were many parties, drunken people, lots of unique celebrations. Not all of them were caught on youtube and happened to be this great though.

Here is one chick that decided that it would be a good idea to show off her mediocre pole dancing skills to celebrate the Gators victory. I’ve seen better but she could still get it. If I was one of the players and I saw this I would definitely tell her that she needs to show her team spirit on my pole.
