Was this years Women’s World Cup worth the watch? I thought it was. From the crazy Brazil game to this very entertaining finals. Even though the women could not pull it off. I still enjoyed watching soccer at such a high level. I still feel the women could give the men a run for their money.

This isn’t the first time drug smugglers have used a popular name to help smuggle drugs. Emmanuel Adebayor, Togo’s most famous player, now plays for Manchester City, but the package was sent to Tottenham. A rival town of his former team, Arsenal. It’s weird that it came from his home country and was sent to his old area before he was traded this year. I’m not saying it was him trying to get marijuana from Togo. Agency head Brodie Clark says the unusual package showed “the lengths that organized criminals will go to in a bid to get drugs into the UK.”

The World Cup is the greatest sporting event in existence and it finally kicks off tomorrow morning with two Group A games on the schedule. South Africa, Mexico, France and Uruguay all make up a group that can be won by the team who wants it the most. If you ask me the two teams out of this group I see advancing are Mexico and Uruguay, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start with my predictions on the outcomes of tomorrow morning’s games.

South Africa vs Mexico

South Africa’s one of those countries where you don’t know what you’re going to see when they step onto the field. Currently they’re on a twelve game winning streak. Mexico has an exciting squad but they don’t always show up either. They did however show up against defending champions Italy and get a win in recent friendly. The last time these teams faced off, Mexico lost. This time around I can only see a win for Mexico or a draw at least.

Yes, I don’t see the host team winning. For South Africa to win this game means they’re changing the entire outcome of the group. Many analysts don’t see it the way I do, but I’m betting against the home team. Their home-field advantage would be more beneficial if it translated to the field. Then I could see them winning the group. That would be interesting. South African mid-fielder Steven Pienaar is supposed to be the difference maker. He’s got striker Katlego Mphela and Captain Aaron Mokoena from Portsmouth, to help him out. The Mexican side has far more players who play in the best leagues around the world. Rafael Marquez who plays for Barcelona and Arsenal’s Carlos Vela will be keeping the host country on their heels. I see Mexico winning 3 to 1 over South Africa.

France vs Uruguay

France is due for some sort of chaotic catastrophic event, after qualifying for this World Cup on a handball. Then FIFA added insult to injury by giving them one of the easiest groups. Uruguay isn’t a big time threat by any means, but they are opportunistic enough to steal a win here if they show up, play smart and play defense. If they win, I can totally see them advancing. My two players to watch are Hugo Lloris, the young French goalkeeper and Luis Suarez, the star striker for Uruguay. Expect Uruguay to be aggressive against a French squad not trying to win, but looking simply not to lose. Uruguay wins 1-0.

The only time I ever really follow soccer is world cup time. There is something about a worldwide competition that only happens once every four years that re-inspires my love of the game. I posted Nike’s latest installment of World Cup advertising (which is pretty awesome by the way) and here is another awesome video. I don’t think this guy is a pro or will be on a World Cup roster but his soccer freestylings should still entertain you. ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED? IS THIS NOT WHY YOU ARE HERE????

If there is one thing that you can always rely on in the world, it’s that Nike’s marketing team will always come up with the most amazing ads ever. Anytime I see one they always manage to pick the most epic music that inspires you to want to get out there and play whatever it is right then and there. If only they had epic music for like that for bloggers, showing us typing in slow motion, smoking lots of weed and watching alarming amounts of porn.  Now that’s inspirational.

Anyway, here is another great ad from there promoting the world cup. It inspires me to want to do great things and all jokes aside, I really feel like 2010 is that year for everyone who is going to do amazing things to get off their ass and do them. Write your own future.

I had no idea women’s soccer could be so interesting. I am not really a fan of soccer in general so it this isn’t like how I usually rag on women’s basketball being inferior to men’s basketball. I’m sure for actual soccer fans, women’s soccer can be very entertaining but I would prefer watching MMA over soccer any day. This isn’t exactly an MMA match but it’s about as close as we are going to get in women’s soccer. I’ll take it.

Damn. That had to hurt and after the pain goes away you still have to run around and finish the game. I would be one of those assholes that wouldn’t have let him live that one down for the rest of the game.

Cristiano Ronaldo Crashes Ferrari

Ahhhh, to be young and have lots of money to waste….

The sports car was badly damaged when it was involved in the smash at 10.20am today on the A538 Wilmslow Road, but the 23-year-old footballer was not hurt.

His car crashed in the tunnel which takes traffic under the airport runways between Wilmslow and Hale, Cheshire.

The Portuguese star was able to get out of the crashed car and showed no sign of injury. He was being spoken to at the scene by police investigating the incident.

What a clown. I wish I had gwop like that to just ruin Ferrari’s like that. Actually no I don’t because if I did, I would be on Ferrari 6 or 7 by now.

Don’t fuck with David Beckham and his family. Well you can fuck with them but don’t take pictures of them in public or else you may wind up getting your ass kicked.

The LA Times reported yesterday that David Beckham was chased down by some paparazzi and a frustrated Beckham, stopped the car and got some of his body guards to beat the paparazzi guys up and take their camera.

Francois Navarre, co-owner of the X-17 online photo agency, said one of his photographers was tailing Beckham near Beverly Drive and Little Santa Monica Boulevard about 4 p.m. Sunday when the footballer apparently decided he was tired of the unwanted attention. Beckham stopped his car and confronted the pap, whom he ordered out of the car, Navarre said.

Moments later, Navarre said, the soccer star’s security detail moved in, administering a beat-down and tossing his camera in the garbage. There were reports that the photographer was also handcuffed. Beverly Hills police said they are trying to sort out the situation, although Navarre said there is videotape of the incident, which another photographer gave to police, that has not been returned.

Celebrities can have such short tempers. I mean come on. Don’t you know that everyone wants to know what you are doing at all times of the day (including when you take a shit) and the paparazzi will do whatever it takes (including sitting in a tree outside of your window) to get them what they want.

It’s funny because I didn’t see Becks beating anyone up when these pics were being taken. Maybe he was just driving the crummy Benz and he couldn’t stand for anyone to see him in that.

This week was the final of the Red Bull Street Style Soccer tournament in Sao Paulo, Brazil. There were players who gathered from all over the world to show off their soccer skills and impress the Brazilian ladies, who are IMO the hottest women in the world.

CCTV – With players from 44 countries taking part in qualifications, the final day at the city’s Estadio Municipal pitted highly talented players against each other to perform skillful moves. The contenders faced the daunting prospect of performing in front of some of the world best-loved football judges, with Dutch football star Edgar Davids joined by 1994 World Cup winner Bebeto.

The guy that won the tourney is a 24 year old from France named Arnaud Garnier. You’ve probably never heard of him but apparently he’s pretty good with balls.
