Colorado Youth Baseball Coach Loses Position Due To Medical Marijuana License

The last 9 months I’ve been going through treatment, surgery. I have a 14 inch scar on my stomach. My entire life has changed…They took 11 cm of my colon out. There’s gonna be pain there

Words from Jay Sanner, a former children baseball coach and recovering cancer patient. Sanner was diagnosed with colon cancer last year while coaching the 11-12-year-old baseball team his son Jordan was on. Despite waiting until the end of the baseball season to start treatment and giving his word that he wouldn’t medicate during the baseball season, other parents raised concern and Sanner claims that to be the reason why he was asked to leave his coaching position. Sanner has 4 months left of chemo therapy. When Fountain Valley Baseball board of directors made their decision to ask Sanner to vacate his position they raised concern about his physical and mental capabilities while going through his treatment and made it clear that his medical marijuana license was a factor.

Jay Sanner has been a coach in Fountain Valley since 2004.
