The people of Fruita, Colorado voted this Tuesday to implement a 5% sales tax on medical marijuana and paraphernalia. This makes Fruita the first city in Colorado to start taxing the sale of medicinal marijuana. The funny thing is, currently Fruita, Colorado doesn’t have any medical marijuana dispensaries but, I’m assuming that with the passing of this vote there will be a few opening up soon. The tax will go into affect on May 1st and officials are saying that they expect it to bring in around $100,000 in the first fiscal year.
