Come Out for Cannabis

In the current issue of Skunk magazine is an interview with the current head of NORML, Allen St. Pierre.  Near the end of the piece he is asked “What frustrates you the most?’  His answer is, “that there is such a teeny percentage of the individuals who consume cannabis that are actually involved in their own liberation, vis-a-vis coming out of their smoky closets in the same way that women, blacks, and notably gays and lesbians have.  If we combined all the [membership of] groups [promoting cannabis] you would still have about a .0001 penetration rate into the marijuana consuming market.”

“The government has been principally successful in creating an ongoing fear factor, so that otherwise right-minded people who are aggrieved by these policies, tens of millions of people a year, do not get involved, because they perceive it will get them arrested, get them harassed by their government.”

The man is right Greenies. We must leave our culture of accommodation, where we hide thinking we are safe. It is time to come out for cannabis. When we do we will see there are more of us than anyone imagines.
