Curren$y and Dame Dash are now in a fight over who owns the rights to Curren$y’s music. Curren$y and Dame were in talks in 2010 about signing a deal together, but the deal never went through. Spitta then signed with Warner Bros. and apparently Dame still released two albums of Curren$y’s. Curren$y released three albums under Dame’s DD172 label, both Pilot Talks and Muscle Car Chronicles.
Curren$y claims Dash released two of his albums in 2010 — but the two still couldn’t reach an agreement … so Curren$y signed with Warner Bros. in January 2011.
But according to the lawsuit, Damon was unmoved — and CONTINUED to release Curren$y’s music despite the new WB contract, which gave WB exclusive rights to Curren$y’s jams.
Now, Curren$y is demanding the producer quit profiting off him in any way. Curren$y also wants $1.5 million in damages.
It seems pretty simple, but Curren$y did release Pilot Talk 1 & 2 and Muscle Car Chronicles under Dame’s DD172. Curren$y then signed with Warner Brothers. I don’t see Spitta getting the full $1.5 million, but I see them settling out of court. I wonder what two albums Dame released of Spitta’s it was for sure. People on my twitter have mostly said Pilot Talk 1 & 2. Only time will tell how they deal with this. Stoned Immaculate will be here this June.
