On Friday, Delaware became the 16th state (plus the District of Columbia) to sign a medical marijuana bill into law. Governor Jake Markell (I’m always in favor of executive branches headed by men named Jake), signed a law approving the use of medical marijuana. It’s a bit different than some of those other 15 states, so read on to find out how.
The law itself has taken a look at other states, and decided to impose some restrictions on the measure. It’s limited to people over 18 (I know I started much earlier than that), and it’s only available to patients in 3 state-controlled outlets:
The law is very restrictive compared to most other states. Only people over 18 with a limited number of extremely serious conditions will be allowed access to medical marijuana. All the medical marijuana has to be grown and dispensed at three state-licensed centers.
Doesn’t really matter does it? The stringent measures are fine when you consider the suffering the herb will alleviate.
In commemoration, we’ll give you one of the finest musicians to hail from Delaware, singing about liquor.
