Delaware Senate approves use of Medical Marijuana

Delaware senate has approved the use of Medical Marijuana amongst HIV-carriers and those who suffer from Cancer. Don’t panic, I know Delaware was probably reminding you of New Jersey’s policies, but many politicians believe this is the first step to getting marijuana completely legalized in Delaware. “If you don’t think this is a step in that eventual process, you are sorely mistaken,” said Sen. Colin Bonini, R-Dover South. Check out an excerpt of the article below:

Under the bill, individuals with qualifying illnesses would be issued identification cards and be limited to purchasing up to six ounces of marijuana each month. Marijuana could only be purchased from a dispensary, and home cultivation would be prohibited. Qualifying conditions would include cancer, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, post-traumatic stress disorder, glaucoma, Crohn’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease or other chronic wasting diseases.

The vote passed 18-3 (those 3 against were all Republicans) and should be sitting on the desk of Delaware Gov. Jack Markell. With the passing of this bill, Delaware becomes the 16th state to legalize the use of Medical Marijuana! Pennsylvania and Maryland are the next two states who have similar bills up for discussion. Considering the the acceptance of Medical Marijuana on the East coast and the Northeast in general, I’m hoping that train stops in NYC so that I can finally say I’m a Medical marijuana user and card carrier!
