Until the NBA season returns, stories like these are going to be the best stories that we can provide you from the NBA. The 2010 NBA MVP, Derrick Rose surprised 100 unsuspecting elementary students from his alma mater, Randolph Elementary School, when he showed up to help POWERADE unveil renovated basketball courts at his childhood park – Murray Park Playground. Nice surprise.

“It’s emotional just being here (at Murray Park). My house growing up is just two blocks away,” said Rose during the event.

Shouts to D. Rose for keeping it real and hanging around the people. I like it when players do things like this. Check a few more pics after the jump.
