According to Complex, Drake has donated $75,000 toward creating a recording studio at a troubled high school in Philadelphia, PA. Strawberry Mansion High School, which Meek Mill attended, has struggled with violence and budget issues, and principal Linda Cliatt-Wayman has faced an uphill battle trying to improve academics on campus and reduce violence. ABC News screened a report on Wayman’s efforts last year, prompting Drake to get involved. This is about your principal. This is about your future,” he said. “I love you. I care about you. I want to see you succeed.” Huffington Post reports that Drake’s crew finished the studio last summer, cleaning out and replacing old sound booths at the school. Students didn’t sign up for classes, however, until the principal used the school’s PA to play a song recorded in the studio, prompting more than 50 students to sign up.
