Feds Trying To Stop Pot Farms In Oakland

Yesterday I let you Greenies know that pot farms may be available for Oakland in the next few weeks. It looks like federal prosecutor in Northern California are going to do their best to stop that. They said, “large-scale marijuana farms licensed by the city would violate U.S. law and could lead to a crackdown on growers and their backers.” U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag made it clear in a letter to Oakland City Attorney John Russo. She stated,

The department is concerned about the Oakland ordinance’s creation of a licensing scheme that permits large-scale industrial marijuana cultivation and manufacturing as it authorizes conduct contrary to federal law.

She was very straightforward with her letter that they would not accept large marijuana growing farms, even after Obama’s hands-off approach to states that have legalized medical marijuana. All these issues will be spread out and discussed in front of council in the next few weeks.
