Gil Scott Heron 4/1/1949-5/27/2011

The Godfather of Hip-Hop, Gil Scott Heron, has left this earth at an age of 62 on Friday, May 27, 2011. From Public Enemy to Radiohead, this poet has touched and formulated not only the foundation of hip hop and poetry but blurred the line between political activism and free jazz, funk, soul, blues and R&B. “The Revolution will not be televised”, “The Bottle”, “Im On My Way Home” and “Angel Eyes” are all testaments of Gil Scot Heron. To ignore his contribution to music is to ignore the a fabric of American music history. Rest In Power GSH.
