GroSkool 2.0: Little White Hairs

We have turned the lights to 12 hours light / dark.  We have shifted our fertilizers from higher N to higher K.  As we begin the flowering phase we must do one more important task.  We must make sure we are only growing female plants.  If our re-legalized, 6-plant-3-in-flower garden is going to feed our house we have no room for male plants.

If we grow a clone from a known, female plant we know we will grow a female plant. Stop. Beyond here lies pollen.

If we sprout a feminized seed we will most likely get a female plant. But not always. If we grow from random, viable seed we will get half-male, half-female distribution. We don’t want to let a male plant get into our female garden. We are growing sinsemilla — seedless cannabis. If the boys and girls get together there will be seeds. Yes, sir, seeds.

The earlier in the life cycle you can identify the sex of your plants the better protected you are from accidental pollinating of your garden. There are pre-flowers on most cannabis plants with a few weeks of sprouting — if you know what to look for.  The time of forcing flowers is an easier time to spot the identifying little white hair(s) of the female pre-flower. Until you see that little white hair you can’t say “female.”

If you do pollinate the garden . . . so? You still have cannabis to enjoy, maybe a bit less than you would have had. And now you have a whole pile of seeds to play with. See? It’s all good.

Many thanks to those whose videos we co-opted for class. Many thanks to you for stopping by to think about cannabis with us. When the change comes, be ready to ride that wave. I’ll see you there.
