GroSkool 2.0: Why Seeds in My Weed?

The title of this weeks discussion comes from a search that brought a new visitor to Hail Mary Jane.  Why are there seeds in the weed?  Because the sexually mature boy cannabis plants got with the sexually mature girl cannabis plants.  Seeds are inevitable — those crazy kids.

Cannabis is a dioecious plant, meaning cannabis manifests different plants for the male and the female roles. This is not unique but still rather uncommon. Most plants have both male and female sex organs on the same plant making self-pollenation the norm. In the wild cannabis is largely a wind pollenated plant.

It is the first task of the new cannabis grower to learn to tell a male from a female plant. Next, to be able to determine sex — correctly — from the preflowers. That was last week’s lesson. Our plan is to grow sinsemilla cannabis — seedless cannabis. That won’t happen if a nasty boy plant slips past our guard. Our re-legalized, legal 6-plant-3-in-flower garden has no room for males.

Finally, there is nothing wrong with using a bit of magnification when searching for the preflowers. And lots of light.
