Help support cannabis documentary, “Jazz Nights: A Confidential Journey”

Hal Masonberg’s “Jazz Nights: A Confidential Journey” needs our help! This documentary is an important part of jazz history, and an unexpected and revealing tale of these early days of Prop 19, California’s initiative to legalize marijuana for recreational use. The film has been shot and edited, and has now received fiscal sponsorship from the International Documentary Association (IDA). Check out the official website for more information.
“Jazz Nights” is about the final days of a historic, two-year jazz residency that took place in an illegal hash bar in the heart of Hollywood, CA. Beyond highlighting amazing music, this film shows how dispensaries and cannabis can add to the arts culture and offer opportunities to musicians and artists. This film details jazz and cannabis, described through a community gathering to completely immerse themselves in the exploration of artistic self-expression without rules or expectations.
The filmmakers have received festival interest and hope to present the film at a festival as early as January 2016.
This is the only film that documents this important part of jazz history. To learn more and view the trailer, visit
