First Olympic Pole Dancing Commercial

As if men don’t spend enough time watching sports…. and does anyone else find it ironic the infamous voice of God i.e. Morgan Freeman is on a visa commercial promoting strippers pole dancers? lol

The pole-dancing community is preparing a petition to allow pole dancing in the 2012 London Olympics.  They want to be officially recognized as a competitive sport.  At first I laughed this off, but you have to admit it takes a great amount of skill to work a pole like that! I’d like to see you try it.  Compared to traditional exotic dancing, pole dancing requires a lot more grace, agility and strength (as seen in gymnastics). However it lacks in sexuality.  I do like the fact that they still wear those boss shoes.  I’m all for it as a sport/recreational activity/career, except I don’t think it’s fair there’s no men’s division… not that I’d be interested in seeing a young fit man… nvm.  My only question is what do you tell you 6 year old daughter when she wants to take up pole dancing classes or your 15 yr old when she wants to join the pole dancing team? o_O

There actually is a new scoring system in place for pole that has just started being used in several major competitions. It's similar to gymnastics & ice skating-where specific moves and tricks are submitted as part of a compulsory routine-then judges score them based on maximum level/number of points available. Freestyle rounds include point systems for technical elements, creativity, strength & execution. The steps are all in place-including universal terminology, levels, judging criteria, federation & competition building, and plans to institute anti-doping regulations for athletes. It's happening-and it's closer than you think. The IPSF (International Pole Sports Federation) is aiming for formal proposal to the IOC at the 2020 games. We are way beyond the stigmas and ignorant comments. Those who want to remain in the gutter with their thoughts are welcome to do so. We realize those types will always exist-you know why? Because they like the images of seedy clubs and slutty strippers-what else would they be doing on their lunch breaks and boys night-outs while their wives and kids are at home…. However, for those of us who have moved on with the big kids….We have already paved the way. We've read through & defended all the degrading comments, swallowed our pride and moved forward in the face of criticism to prove and disprove. Pole Sports will be in the Olympics-mark my words….but that's really not even the point. Even if it never got there, so what? We banded together as an industry & a community. We 'universalized' our terminology, set levels & developed a point system for judging. We did and are doing all the things people do when they come to a mutual realization that have have found something worth going the rounds for. Those who have discovered pole have a gift. We know what it takes, and what kind of person it makes out of us. That's the real reward. We don't need the Olympics for that! But we'll get that too! Chastitie Lujan
