Idaho Changes “420” Mile Marker to “419.9”

I guess a lot of people can’t help themselves when they see a sign that says “420.” They either steal the sign to keep at home or pull over immediately to toke up. This may not be the best practice in Idaho, a state with notoriously harsh marijuana laws, which just changed the “420” mile marker sign to one that reads 419.9.

While this may seem like an April Fool’s Day joke, I think it’s actually a much bigger move than that. Although Idaho may not be keen on legalization, it sure is recognizing it.

By resorting to a seemingly petty move to thwart potential stoners, this is actually opening up a two-way conversation in a setting where communication has been one-way. Now, whenever drivers pass this sign, they’ll think of marijuana, even when they may not have before.

As always, it’s still a best practice to keep your weed hidden when driving through conservative Idaho.
