Indica Vaporizer: Discreet Yet Revolutionary

Recently, I wrote a review for the Armilo Capsule Pipe, a great on-the-go smoking device. But, what if you want to be a little more discreet while traveling and smoking?  In that case, the Indica Vaporizer has got you covered!

This personal vape is a great travel piece for all of your smoking needs. The developers at Indica have fused a compact design, while still being able to deliver the full flavored hit of a normal vaporizer. It is smaller than your smart phone and comes in silver or black finishes to keep the look discreet.

Indica’s packaging sets you up for success from the second you open the box. Sliding open the top of the beautiful wooden case reveals the Indica tape, which lies safely in a foam cut out. Under the foam, the box holds all of the necessary accessories as well as the easy to read manual. It comes with everything you’ll need and even a couple of “just in case” pieces.

The box contains four replacement screens for the chamber, three mini spacers for packing material into the chamber, two vaporizer picks for stirring material as well as removing the mini spacer, and an extra chamber door in case you misplace the original. Indica also packs in a cleaning brush and five pipe cleaners to aid in the maintenance of the vaporizer — along with a USB charging block and cord, and a nice little travel pouch.

The key to vaporization is temperature. If it’s too high, the vapor becomes too dense, and if it’s too low, the vapor becomes too thin. For the best taste and effects, a medium density vapor is ideal. The Indica Vaporizer has been engineered to quickly generate the necessary heat, and is equipped with a cutting-edge control system to help ensure minimal temperature fluctuation.

Once the Indica has charged for the its 12-hour initial charge, it’s ready to use. After double clicking the indicator button twice and holding it, the light will turn on. You are then able to select one of the five heat settings for your material by double clicking the indicator light. The settings are distinguished by five different colors according to temperature: cyan, blue, green, purple and red. Cyan is the lowest heat setting at 171°F. As you double click the indicator light, each color raises the heat setting by 10°F, ending at 211°F on the red setting.

After choosing the desired heat setting, the Indica takes about 1 minute to properly heat up for a medium-sized drag. For a lighter drag, 30 seconds seemed to work; if you desire a larger drag, 90 seconds seemed to work. Once you’ve finished your smoke, just hold the indicator button for a couple of seconds and it turns off. Close the top, put it back in your pocket or purse, and you are on your way.

Throughout my trials with the Indica, I used material ground with my MedTainer, which seemed to give the material the best texture for the Indica to burn smoothly. I did try all of the heat settings as well, and found the green setting at 191°F seemed to be the best. Although the vaporizer did get a bit warm after about 20 minutes of continuous use, it was nothing that I wasn’t able to hold comfortably. This temperature setting gave me the full flavor of the material, and was a nice drag with minimal smoke output. The higher settings tasted a bit burnt to me, while the lower settings were just lacking a bit in the drag aspect. I guess that’s why I was drawn to the green setting!

Also, the Indica does have a self turn off when it feels like it’s getting too warm. All you have to do is wait a couple of minutes, turn it back on and enjoy your material. I was able to get about 20 to 30 nice pulls off of one chamber pack, which holds about .2 to .3 grams of ground material. It is advertised to have a 1.5 hour battery life with constant use. I got very close to that running on the green setting, so I was very pleased with that.

There were only two suggestions I would make for this product. The first would be some sort of heat resistant cover for the bottom — not only for heat resistance, but to help aid in keeping the chamber door from being misplaced. Also, I would suggest a charger change, if possible, to a micro USB, since it is a more common plug in devices these days.

Overall, the Indica is one of the best handheld vaporizers I have had the pleasure of using to this day. The different color finishes, heat settings and fully loaded packaging make this an awesome buy for yourself or a fellow smoker.
