I’m going to take a shot at writing a series of blogs for HMJ, which I’m calling “The Masters of Rap.”
The concept is simple; rap today really, really sucks. Music in general has become nothing but a random series of crap sandwiches and douche nuggets. Examples:
Holy crap dude.
Much like playing the guitar or singing, rapping well is not something everyone can do. A lot of skill goes into the writing of rhymes and the delivery of them. You don’t wake up one day and start writing down words that rhyme and poof, you’re Tupac (although in today’s culture, you’re bound to get your shitty song played on the radio).
Believe it or not, there are men who have actual lyrical skill who sold a lot of records and made tons of money. Not because they had a face tattoo and an extensive criminal record, but because they had was is sorely lacking in today’s rap game: skills.
So stay tuned to HMJ as I highlight the kings of the game, The Masters of Rap.
