Is Maryland Next?
News out of the Baltimore Sun says that medical marijuana may be coming to a Maryland pharmacy near you. We’ve covered this news before, so it seems that Obama’s call to end the federal crackdown is having the desired affect on state lawmakers. Maryland, unlike the relaxed laws in other states, is going to make it harder to procure legally sanctioned marijuana though. Read on to find out how.State lawmakers had this to say about the progressive initiative:
Patients would need approval from doctors with whom they have a long-standing relationship and would not be permitted to grow marijuana on their own.
Morhaim said those two elements make Maryland’s measure more stringent than laws passed recently in other states, which allow people to grow their own pot and have come under pressure from critics who say doctors permit use of the drug too easily.
Doesn’t matter how hard it is to facilitate medical marijuana for those who need it, as long as it happens. Here’s hoping Maryland is state 15. I will celebrate by taking 15 hits of a gravity bong when it happens.
