Is Medical Marijuana Headed To New York?
By: $@bs
It f’ing better be. After New Jersey’s decision to legalize medical marijuana, NY cannabis activists say that now it’s time to push for similar legislation in NY. (I’ll say.) According to the NY Times article published at 4:20 last Tuesday, NYC actually passed a medical-marijuana law in 1980 but never put it to use. (Now you tell me.)
This year, NY senators plan on introducing legislation that calls for the use of cannabis to “treat a serious illness under medical supervision” and distributing it to patients in maximum increments of 2.5 ounces from state-licensed dispensaries only. One senator stated that. “Other than the state Conservative Party, there has been little to no resistance.” (Shocker.) NY Governor Paterson is believed to be a supporter also. So, yea, get on it guys; $@bs needs ya.
