Michigan’s medical marijuana law passed in 2008 and they still have many dark areas about the law. Jackson is taking it upon themselves to hold up on any operations with dispensaries. They have had multiple people ask to start a dispensary and were turned down. They want to wait (6-month pot moratorium) and see what the official laws are and not have to deal with problems like California seems to constantly be dealing with.
Warren Renando, interim city manager: “The state has left us in a situation that’s an absolute nightmare. Nobody knows exactly what can or cannot happen, what you can grow, what you cannot grow, how much you can have, what’s legal and what’s not legal.”
I think this is a good idea from Jackson, but it clearly states in the law how many plants you are allowed to grow and how much dry marijuana you are allowed to have on you. Jackson is trying to do it the right way with no disarray and I couldn’t ask for anything else from a city. They are not banning medical marijuana completely like other cities have done in the past. Jackson has made the right decision to wait and make sure all the T’s are crossed and all the lower case J’s are dotted.
