It was announced today that Jay Z has surpassed Elvis Presley in #1 record sales with his newest release, The Blueprint 3. Billboard sales show that BP3 sold over 470,000 copies this week, making this his 11th #1 album. Jay Z’s 2007 release, American Gangster, tied him with Elvis, selling over 425,000 copies its first week.

The only artists in history to hold the record above Jay Z is The Beatles, who have the top spot with 19 #1 albums. Thats a hell of a lot of hit albums for a group to put out, let alone a single person who is not far behind. Maybe one day Hova will release The Blueprint 22…or something like that…
