Political candidates are liable to say anything… like something positive about changing drug policy. Jeb! Bush, for example:
. . . a radio interview in which the former Florida governor expressed support for decriminalizing marijuana. “It’s one thing to say we should have decriminalization of marijuana. I support that,” the former Florida governor said in an interview with Joe Mathieu of Boston’s WBZ NewsRadio. Bush had not previously endorsed a removal of criminal penalties for cannabis possession.
I keep saying that a door will open and make cannabis an issue in the 2016 election. Is this that door? Keep some things in mind about Jeb!
Bush also referred to marijuana as a “gateway drug” during the interview, referencing a theory that was thoroughly debunked by the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine in a 1999 report commissioned by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. He also said “the new marijuana” is “highly, highly toxic,” despite researchers consistently finding that marijuana is among the least toxic drugs and incapable of producing a fatal overdose.

Please bear in mind that many people who are soon going to say “yes” to re-legalization, just a short time ago were saying, “no, never.” Lots of these folks will be itchy with the new way of things, like they have on brand new underwear. It’ll take them a while to relax and realize the world did not come to an end. That’s okay.
Pay attention to where each and all of the 2016 candidates stand on a change in drug policy. One of these people is going to be the next president — yikes!
We will not let this opportunity slip past us. Next year — 2016 — is going to be about cannabis re-legalization. We are going to make cannabis a key issue in the campaign. You and me — we are going to do that.
