Despite a lot of current NBA members being strictly about themselves, there are players out there that take the time out of their lives to give to those less fortunate. Former UConn Most Outstanding Player & current Charlotte Bobcats starting point guard Kemba Walker was on hand to open up a newly refurbished basketball court at The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club on Milton Road in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Below is the press release for the event:
Under Armour has partnered with the NBA, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs and the city of Charlotte to restore the Milton Road Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club indoor basketball court, providing young athletes with access to play the game they love and an increased opportunity to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.
The refurbishment will include a brand new wood floor, hoops, backboards and foam pole pads, scoreboard and other improvements to the gym’s aesthetics.
The ceremony will include remarks by Walker as well as a representative from The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club. After the ribbon cutting, Under Armour and the NBA will host a number of NBA Fit youth basketball activities on the court.
In 2012 alone, Under Armour teamed up with the NBA to refurbish courts in Baltimore and Philadelphia already and plan on fixing ones in Houson, TX & Newark, NJ as well this September so shout out to them.
