What could have possibly made Las Vegas any better but a bunch of stoners to party it up with? Sadly this won’t be happening any time soon. A cannabis culture celebration, called Cannapalooza, being held in March at Mandalay Bay was canceled after local police raised security concerns. Billed as the “largest head shop on the planet,” the event would have featured a 50,000-square-foot marketplace for all things weed related, including hand-blown glassware, hemp clothing and cosmetics. The organizer of the event reported that the day after he met with authorities to discuss security concerns, Mandalay Bay informed him that the event had been canceled. (Because thousands of drunken gambling fools pose no kind of danger, but pot-heads apparently do.)

Law enforcement stated that it was the hotel’s decision to cancel the event, but the hotel refused to comment. The show planner insists he knew there might be trouble when he met with security officials in December. He commented, “Even at the meeting, a Mandalay Bay security guy said, ‘Pot smokers don’t drink and gamble and that’s where we make our money. It’s bad for business.’”
