Medical Marijuana: To Live and Die in LA
Well, that didn’t take long. About a month and half ago, the Los Angeles City Council passed a medical marijuana ordinance that clamps down on the medical marijuana dispensaries that were popping up all over the place. Sprawling LA seems to be a hotbed for medical marijuana dispensaries (I know shocking). It’s only March 6th, and already the medical marijuana community is striking back. Read on to find out how.
The lawsuit say dispensaries have only seven days after the law takes effect on March 14 to find a new location if they’re too close to schools, churches, or other sensitive areas. The lawsuit also claims a provision banning dispensaries near homes rules out nearly all commercial areas. A spokesman said the city attorney’s office had no comment.Americans for Safe Access is among five plaintiffs.
You could just see this coming Amerite? I think it’s pretty laughable what the LA City Council has stooped too in order to “crack down.” It’s equivalent to yanking a liquor license from a bar that doesn’t sell food. The fact that they’re banning it near homes means you basically can’t have a medical marijuana dispensary in the county of LA. Done and done.
We know one Los Angeles alum we hope is behind this lawsuit and has the clout to overturn this ridiculous ordinance.
