Mexico Is Smarter Than The United States, In One Area At Least
Mexico Senate OKs bill to legalize drug possesion
So Mexico hasn’t exactly legalized marijuana but they have approved the decriminalization of small amounts of drugs for personal use. Their reasoning for doing this is because they need to free up law enforcement resources to fight the violent drug cartels out there.
The bill, proposed by conservative President Felipe Calderon, would make it legal to carry up to 5 grams (0.18 ounces) of marijuana, 500 milligrams (0.018 ounces) of cocaine and tiny quantities of other drugs such as heroin and methamphetamines.
This is a step in the right direction, even if it isn’t in my native country (the United States). Now maybe I would actually consider taking a trip to Mexico. On second thought, nevermind. The swine flu is heavy there, the drug gangs are going crazy and you still can’t drink any water there. Doesn’t sound like the kind of place I need to be.
