MLB Wrap: Slumping Mets lose again

Mets 1 – Rockies 4: The Rockies have been struggling lately with a lot of injuries. The Mets have been struggling with everything else. With the huge of distraction of their managers job on the line, the Mets lost again yesterday with a 4-1 loss to the Rockies. The Mets can barely put together a two game win streak and in this game it was sad because they were essentially facing a triple A lineup.

Don’t tell that to the Rockies Seth Smith and Aaron Cook though. Smith hit a 3 run shot in the fourth to give the Rockies the lead. Cook took care of the rest pitching a four hit complete game and holding the Mets to 1 run.

Cardinals 3 – Dodgers 4: It was Clayton Kershaw’s first start in the Major leagues yesterday for the Dodgers and though he didn’t get the decision in the matchup, he was still very satisfied. Kershaw gave up two runs on five hits in six innings. He also struck out seven Cards and walked only one. The game had to go to extra innings but Andre Ethier got the game winning hit in the 10th to give the Dodgers 4-3 win.

Angels 2 – White Sox 3: Carlos Quentin led the way for the White Sox in this one, hitting two home runs off of John Lackey including the game winning walk off in the bottom of the 9th. That home run gave the White Sox the 3-2 win over the Angels. It was probably retribution after being hit by Lackey’s pitch in the first inning.

Mariners 5 – Yankees 6: The Yankees are trying to get back on track. Yesterday they beat the Mariners 6-5 in comeback fashion for their 5th consecutive win.. The Yanks scored 4 runs in the 8th inning including a go ahead hit by Jose Molina that Ichiro Suzuki lost in the Sun. Thats what happens when your team is winning and the other team is losing. This was the Mariners 6th straight loss.

Red Sox 3 – A’s 6: The A’s wanted to make sure that Jon Lester didn’t think that he was gonna come into their building and get another no hitter. Their first hitter got a hit and the hits continued as they hit Lester up for four runs in their 6-3 win over the Red Sox. Their win completed the sweep of the defending champs over the weekend.
