Veteran NFL players are speaking out on behalf of a place for medical marijuana in the game of football.
Former New Orleans Saints lineman and San Diego All American tackle, Kyle Turley, spoke about how cannabis helped treat his chronic pain, head injuries and other ailments caused by the physical and mental stress of playing professional football.
“You don’t understand how bad you’re going to be hurting,” said Turley.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hasn’t ruled out marijuana in the league, but he hasn’t given the “go-ahead,” either. He says the NFL would consider allowing athletes to use marijuana to treat concussions and other injuries if the league’s medical experts recommend the treatment.
Let’s hope that the needs of our brave football players finally melt the cold, hard hearts of those in the federal government who would then allow proper medical research of exactly what conditions cannabis can help. Just sayin’…
