MO Lawmakers Consider Ban on Synthetic Pot

First of all, I’m primarily concerned that I haven’t heard about synthetic pot before. Not that I think I would be a fan of fake weed, I mean, is nothing sacred? Regardless, the drug marketed as K2, or Spice, is an herbal substance legally sold in the United States that supposedly creates similar effects on the brain as THC, the active chemical in marijuana that gets you high. Developed in the mid 90s, the drug was created to study how synthetic cannabis would affect the brain and is now sold in smoke shops and online; even children can legally buy it.

As concerns grow about the substance, Missouri is now proposing a bill would ban the compound. A Missouri state sergeant commented, “Everybody so far has told me it’s 10 times stronger than marijuana.” (So yea, how come I don’t know about this???) European countries including Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland, have already banned the substance.
