Slightly Stoopid is about to pick their tour back up in Burlington, VT to wow more crowds of fans with old favorite and new hits from their new album Top of the World. I had the honor of talking to C-Money of Slightly Stoopid the other day about their new album, tour and the future of the band.
The band just wrapped up their tour with 311 last month and have embarked on a tour of their own. After slowly and carefully curating this album for listeners ears the Slightly Stoopid crew are continuing their own tour.
With 21 tracks the album is something you can play and get lost in. I spent the most time in my car and the CD hasn’t left the most played rack in weeks. The self-titled track Top Of The World, performed on Jimmy Kimmel live, is reason enough to pick up this album with its good vibes. My personal favorite is Mona June ft. Angela Hunte, but beyond that you end up finding surprise in tracks like Don’t Stop, Just Thinking and Devil’s Door.
After being “under the gun” for the last few albums C-Money says it’s nice to be able to feel like something is perfect. Recorded from their San Diego based Slightly Stoopid worked with talents such as Angela Hunte who has worked with nas, Snoop Lion, Alicia Keys and more to ensure this album’s excellence.
It’s taken the group hard work and persistence to get this far and it’s paying off. As always, I asked if there was any advice C-Money had for those looking to travel along the same path.
” Never give up on a dream. It’s great that you do music, but you need to be a business person too. It’s not as a vicious cycle as you would think, you just always have to wear many hats. In music you’re trying to get people to like your product. The product has to be something people want”
In addition Slightly Stoopid are no strangers to the marijuana policy and change. C-Money and the rest of the guys have worked with NORML in the past and are also a part of of AMPLIFY, a music outreach endeavor for Students for Sensible Drug Policy.
