Suns 94 – Spurs 87

So this is why the Suns felt they needed Shaquille Oneal. This is the exact reason. They wanted to be able to beat the Spurs. Now if only they could beat anyone else than we might actually call it a good trade.

Shaq scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to help the Suns beat their bitter rival Spurs 94-87. Shaq provided the Suns with the toughness inside that they’d really been lacking over the last few years. Shaq was hustling all over the place, at one point he even dove into the stands, catching a fan with a elbow to the mouth. Ouch. He said he was just tryin to avoid the kids. Good thing for them he did.

Pistons 116 – Bulls 109

The Pistons got a nice scare in this one. They almost lost a key starter to injury. Much to the dismay of the rest of the Eastern conference, Tayshaun Prince got back up and he was even better than he was before scoring 15 points in the final 17 minutes of the game to help the Pistons to a 116-109 win over the Bulls.

“I couldn’t feel my hand, and I knew that wasn’t good,” said Prince, who was injured on a third-quarter foul by Larry Hughes. “I thought I was going to have to shoot my free throws one-handed, but I got enough feeling back to make the shots, and then I hit a 3, so I figured I would keep going.”

Fortunately for the Pistons Tayshaun should be fine.

Kings 114 – Lakers 113

4.6 seconds remaining and Beno Udrih was at the free throw line with a chance to put the Kings up against the hated Lakers.  He knocked down both free throws giving them a slim lead.

Everyone in the arena knew who would be getting the ball for the Lakers and he did.  Kobe Bryant took the ball and tried to drive it down with only seconds left but ran into a double team brick wall.  Instead he tried the fadeaway…. and missed.

The Kings managed to step up against the Lakers for the 114-113 win, in LA.  Now if only they could beat teams like the Wolves at home.
