New Hampshire Decriminalization Marijuana Possession

With 13 states that have already decriminalized possession of medical marijuana, New Hampshire may make number 14. Last week, members of the House Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee voted 16 to 2 to reduce possession charges to a civil infraction. This would reduce penalties for a small marijuana possession offense from a criminal misdemeanor (punishable by up to one year in jail and $2,000 in fines) to a nominal monetary penalty (no more than $200.00). The law reform now awaits vote by the full House (and I don’t mean that in an Uncle Jesse kind of way…)
