New Jersey Passes Medical Marijuana Law

So I was a little bit late on this story because I was sick but make no mistake about it, I am ultra proud of my home state for becoming the 14th state to pass medical marijuana laws in a historic vote on Monday.

The measure — which would allow patients diagnosed with severe illnesses like cancer, AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis to have access to marijuana grown and distributed through state-monitored dispensaries — was passed by the General Assembly and State Senate on the final day of the legislative session.

Gov. Jon S. Corzine has said he would sign it into law before leaving office next Tuesday. Supporters said that within nine months, patients with a prescription for marijuana from their doctors should be able to obtain it at one of six locations.

I will be looking to open a dispensary but according the new Governor, this will be the strictest marijuana law in the country so I don’t know how easy it will be to do that. If anyone has any info on how to open a dispensary, where the dispensaries will be, or any info you want to share, please do so in the comments. This is an exciting and historic time.
