NHL Wrap: Canes at the top of the Southeast conference… again
Hurricanes top the Caps
The southeastern division is going to be a dogfight all the way until the end of the season. Last night the Hurricanes topped the Capitals 2-1 to reclaim first place in the Southeastern division.
The Canes played like their season depended on it and in order to come out on top of that division, we are going to needed to see efforts like this out of them night in and night out.
Around the league
- Ryan Carter scored his first two NHL goals in the first period and the Anaheim Ducks completed a three-game, New York-area sweep with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.
- Phil Kessel scores the lone shootout goal in rallying the Boston Bruins from a two-goal deficit to seal a 3-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
- Joe Thornton scored a power-play goal 1:49 into overtime, and Evgeni Nabokov earned his 30th victory of the season with 31 mostly spectacular saves in the San Jose Sharks’ 2-1 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
