P.O.S. of Doomtree talks music, tours and the pursuit of happiness

P.O.S. of Doomtree took a minute during Paid Dues weekend to chat with me briefly about Doomtree’s album performance and mary jane. Doomtree was started 10 years ago, right out of high school with P.O.S. and Mike Mictlan. Now the core members of the group are: P.O.S., Mike Mictlan, Sims, Paper Tiger, Dessa, Lazerbeak and Cecil Otter–globetrotting and attention grabbing Doomtree knows music and performance.

At the end of 2011 Doomtree released the record No Kings. While the No Kings tour was finishing off in early April, the group is getting ready for their European tour in about a month. When I met up with P.O.S. of Doomtree he was really chill. As the interview went on, with every band mate came a project mention.

It’s no wonder Doomtree is so extremely busy. Everyone is working on their own project. P.O.S’ album is coming out this fall doesn’t have an official title, but there’s a good chance it will be titled “We don’t even live here.” With the talented hands of producer Andrew Dawson; a high school friend, we can look forward to a great album.

P’s relationship with Paid Dues isn’t fresh. He’s rocked the stage solo twice and with Doomtree once. For their second Paid Dues appearance the group KILLED the stage. They were sure to cross paths, interact and get down with each other and the fans.

I asked P.O.S. if he smokes marijuana and his answer was…[insert drumroll]

“…When it feels right. I don’t think it should be illegal. We’re opening a whole ‘nother can of worms even talking about it. The way I stand is to see everybody be happy and do whatever it is they want, as long as it doesn’t infringe on anybody’s personal sovereignty.”

It has got to be that open and honest talent and way of thinking that has P.O.S’ relationship with Paid Dues grow stronger and stronger with time. He’s rocked the stage solo twice and with Doomtree once.

Check out their album No Kings on itunes, zune or any download agent of your choice. In the meantime, visit www.doomtree.net or click the member names for more information on P.O.S., Mike Mictlan, Lazerbeak, Sims, Dessa, Paper Tiger or Cecil Otter
