Pau Gasol traded to the Lakers: Lakers may win the west
The Commercial Appeal has reported today that the Lakers and the Grizzlies pulled off a major deal which will send Grizzlies center Pau Gasol to the Los Angeles Lakers for center Kwame Brown, rookie guard Jarvis Crittenton and first-round National Basketball Association Draft choices this year and in 2010.
This is a good look for both teams. This move will ease the load on Kobe and give the Lakers a real presence in the middle. The Grizzlies, who obviously weren’t moving forward with Gasol, get a chance to get younger with some new talent and also free up some cap room.
This will make the Lakers one of the top teams in the West. If they pull off a twin tower affect when Bynum comes back, this team will be a very tough team to beat in the playoffs.
The Grizzlies have also reportedly traded Stromile Swift to the Nets for Jason Collins. This deal should be finalized on Monday.
