Peyton Manning goes under the knife

Peyton Manning has surgery yesterday to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee. It will take Peyton about 6 six weeks to recover but that should give him time to be ready for the Colts September 7th opener against the Bears.

Peyton Manning underwent surgery this afternoon to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee, and rehabilitation for the Indianapolis Colts quarterback could last six weeks.

Team president Bill Polian described the surgery as “routine’’ in a statement and added the medical staff expects a full and complete return to action in four to six weeks.

Polian said Manning had been receiving “conservative treatment’’ for an inflamed bursa sac from the team physicians since February. The treatment was considered productive until Manning began experiencing increased pain and early signs of infection, according to Polian.

His status for that game is officially unknown but I doubt that he will miss that game unless he has too. He hasn’t missed a start in his 10 year career and has start 160 consecutive games. Pretty good streak.
