Re-Legal Oregon Taking Shape

Walk-up windows?  Drive thru?

The Portland City Council on Wednesday banned drive-thru or walk-up windows at marijuana shops. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission, the agency that regulates recreational marijuana production and sales, already prohibits drive-thru windows at marijuana stores. The Oregon Health Authority, which oversees medical marijuana dispensaries, doesn’t ban them outright but its rules imply that they aren’t allowed, said Jonathan Modie, an agency spokesman.

Washington also doesn’t allow drive-up windows at its regulated marijuana stores. Colorado, too, requires that marijuana purchases take place within a store.

And while liquor commission rules do allow limited home delivery of recreational marijuana, Portland rules prohibit recreational marijuana retailers from making home deliveries. The city, however, does allow home delivery by dispensaries to medical marijuana patients.
