The weather was hot, the bands were amazing, the food was expensive. Hugely popular hip hop festival, Rock the Bells hit San Bernardino last week with weather nearly reaching triple digits. The festival served as a reunion to many in the hip hop community and an incredible experience for the fans.
There were several defining moments for artists and being there was like being in an episode of “Entourage,” not knowing which celebrity you would run into next.
Machine Gun Kelly made his mark by getting kicked out like he is known for and J. Cole debuted a new track there (see below)
Whether you went for the old school acts like Naughty by Nature, Big Daddy Kane, Bone Thugs-N-Harmoney, Salt-N-Pepa, Ice Cube or you came to see the leaders of the new school like Kid Cudi, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, or Murs & Fashawn – there was definitely someone for everyone. The lineup had over 50 acts, several of which will perform at the other Rock the Bells concerts as well.
With artists performing back to back on 3 stages, the 9th Rock the Bells did not disappoint.
I spent the majority of my time hustling for interviews and drops for HMJ. We ended up with about 15 interviews and drops including interviews with Chip Da Ripper, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa’s mom and many more. Keep your eye out for those videos coming soon. We will also have preview posts for all the other Rock the Bells events.
There are two more Rock the Bells. Here are the dates:
Mountain View, CA
PNC Bank Arts Center
