Russia May Legalize Marijuana for Agriculture

Looks like we’re getting close to another victory for Team Marijuana! Russia is looking to soon authorize the cultivation of hemp for agricultural & industrial needs. This is amazing news because the money they generate in the Hemp industry could be a good model to make other countries (*cough* America *cough*) interested in legalizing hemp! If you didn’t know, Russia has had quite the history in the Hemp industry:

Russia was a world leading producer of hemp, used as a source of oil, food, fibers, housing and industrial materials, until 1961 when the Soviet Union ratified the UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs which declared cannabis – along with heroin – a highly toxic narcotic.

Russia also currently has the most illegal plants being grown in the world right now. Instead of sending them to jail, they can use their green thumb to turn their hemp into business. This saves tax dollars & increases economic revenue! In other words, there’s nothing but positivity that could come out of this situation. So I really hope Russia does legalize the cultivation of hemp.
