Scott Kalitta

Former Champion Hot Rod Driver Scott Kalitta was killed in a crazy racing accident yesterday. Kalitta, 46, was clinging to life immediately after the crash when he was pulled out of the burning car and he was pronounced dead at a local New Jersey Hospital shortly after.

Many of the witnesses who saw the accident firsthand stated that it was one of the worst accidents they’d ever seen.

“I haven’t witnessed anything like that in a number of years,” Don Prudhomme, a former top racer, told the Asbury Park Press.

Longtime track announcer Bob Frey called the crash “one of the worst accidents he’s seen” at the 43-year-old Raceway Park in Englishtown.

There is still no word as to what caused his car to explode but here is the video so that you can check it out for yourselves.
