Steve Bartman takes the high road and DOESN’T take the $25,000

ESPN – Bartman friend Frank Murtha says that Bartman won’t accept an offer of $25,000. For the money, all Bartman would have to do is attend the National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont and autograph a photograph of himself tipping a foul ball that seemed destined for Cubs outfielder Moises Alou’s glove during a 2003 playoff game with the Florida Marlins.

I guess it’s a good thing that Steve Bartman didn’t take the $25 g’s for the autograph. Can’t say that I agree with him though.

If someone offered you $25,000 for your autograph because of an incident you were involved in that you wish you weren’t, would you do it?

If I were in Bartman’s shoes, I probably would have just said fuck it and did it. He will always be infamous in the hearts of all Cubs fans and would be tarred and feathered if he ever stepped foot into wrigley field, so he might as well get some money out it. That’s just me though.
