I love zombie movies with a passion that runs deep in my movie-lover heart. Slow ones, fast ones, scary ones, funny ones; I dig ’em all. And Zombieland actually features all four and utilizes them perfectly. Plain and simple, if you dig zombies, then you need to see this movie. Baked, preferably.

This movie can be judged in two ways; as a comedy, and as a horror film. Both genres fit together perfectly (especially if you have a sick sense of humor like me). In each scene you get some hilarious dialogue, followed by a gruesome zombie kill. It’s awesomeness cannot be contained… and I’m cool with that.

I was supposed to bring along another fellow stoner to help review this movie with me (*cough* Howard *cough*), but someone (*cough* Howard *cough*) decided not to be awake at 4 in the afternoon. Stereotypical stoner behavior. (Not really, he works the night shift so he’s always sleeping during the day) Anyway, I did manage to smoke a bowl in the parking lot of a Chuck E. Cheese’s at 4:20, plenty of time before the movie started. Plus, once I got to the theater, I got upgraded to the luxury theater. And I was basically the only one there. And the ticket checker girl was cute. The weed I smoked must have been grown by a leprechaun or something.

Plot: Four survivors of the zombie apocalypse travel to California to find a safe haven. One is looking for his parents, two sisters are looking for an amusement park, and one is on a search for a Twinkie.

As a huge fan of the zombie genre, it comes as very high praise when I say that this is one of my favorite zombie movies. I loved the cool-as-hell characters, the laugh out loud comedy, and the bloody zombie violence. More than anything, the movie is just plain fun. You’re always enjoying yourself during the movie. The only flaw is it’s running time. It’s 82 minutes long, and if you added a few more scenes in, this movie would have gone down as a classic. But, it will be remembered as a cult favorite without a doubt. (And I don’t see that as a bad thing)

Now, it’s time for the full review, with returning guests Skeeter and Toby (and me). I saw the movie Friday afternoon, then Skeeter and Toby called me Saturday, wanting to see it. So for the first time in a while, I went back to the theater and saw Zombieland again. It is that good. We met up the next day, burned some bud, and now we present our video review of Zombieland.

Favorite Scene: Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) gets on a roller coaster with his sub-machine gun and goes on a zombie killing rampage.

Watch It Stoned or Sober?: Stoned, but see it sober if you get freaked out easily. Zombieland may be a comedy, but there are some scares that might freak out anyone too high, or if you’re just sensitive to gore.

Overall Score: Kyler: 9.5/10 – Toby: 9.5/10 – Skeeter: 9.25/10
